Description

A complete wall, ceiling, and framing system for the RAM ProMaster — one engineered assembly, not a stack of panels. Most ProMaster interior kits are raw, unfinished panels with no mounting holes drilled, leaving the structure that holds a bed, a galley, or a loaded upper cabinet entirely to you. Inertia covers the walls and ceiling as one system: a steel skeleton indexed to the van's factory chassis points, rot-proof furring, Formica-laminated panels, and GoCode trim to finish the curved sections. It's the base the rest of the build attaches to.

The Three Layers

Framing
  • Precision-cut G90 galvanized steel, indexed to the ProMaster's factory chassis points and riveted to the body in six to fourteen places per bracket, so load spreads across the whole structure rather than concentrating on a few fasteners. A bed, galley, or upper cabinet bolts directly to this steel or to the van chassis.

Panels
  • CNC-machined 1/4" Formica-laminated Baltic birch, cut to fit precisely against the trim. Formica wipes clean and resists staining, fraying, and tearing where fabric doesn't, in a wide range of colors and finishes.

Trim
  • GoCode trim and corner rails provide the finished edge. The panels are cut to meet them, tying panels and framing together.

Why Steel

Van bodies are thin, curved, and full of holes, and the solid metal is rarely where you need a fastener — so you end up hunting for backing, adding your own, and hoping it holds. Inertia gives you a continuous steel plane instead: a cabinet, bed, or galley mounts exactly where the design calls for it, into engineered hardpoints. Some framing kits use wood — plywood lattices or near-full sheets bonded to the walls. Steel does the job with far less wasted space and fewer long-term issues:

  • Volume — A fraction of the thickness of wood, which preserves the interior width and headroom thick framing would otherwise consume.

  • Weight — Carries the same loads at a fraction of the weight of a wood lattice.

  • Moisture — Won't take on water at cut edges, swell, rot, or mold. Steel and PVC don't.

  • Movement — Holds its dimensions; wood expands and contracts with temperature and humidity.


    A matching floor system is also available — marine-grade plywood or Coosa Bluewater composite. Wiring harnesses tailored to this kit are available through Inertia Wiring & Power.
